When Clayton and I got married in 2018, I naturally took control of the wedding planning. I chose the table decorations, the bridal party outfits, found the photographer, and of course created a color-coded spreadsheet for our wedding.
But when it came to the honeymoon- I gave up full control.
Instead of sipping cocktails at an all-inclusive, filling my shoes with sand from the beach or swimming with dolphins in the Caribbean, I packed my back for a week in Slovenia. I’ll be honest, when he first suggested it, I had to Google exactly where it was.
After a successful celebration of vows and dancing, I woke up early with a sore throat, cough, and series of bloody noses– a sign of my body letting go of the pent up pre-wedding stress.
Tissues in hand, we hitched a ride from my dad to make our series of flights. Cleveland to Chicago (Midway), a bus to O’Hare, a flight to Zurich and our final stop in Ljubljana.
We arrived exhausted but Clayton had a full itinerary of hikes, walks through colorful streets, and a booking at a bed and breakfast with a real life Beauty and the Beast candlestick butler.
It didn’t take long for me to be won over (forever) and for the DayQuil to kick in.
Enjoy.

I love this series of photos! Congratulations, and thank you for sharing the experience with us. Lublijana now gets added to the list of places to visit!
